Komorebi 2025: a bridge from Italy to Japan

Crowdfunding Now Open to Support Komorebi 2025, Between Corato and Oita

Komorebi IX Edition: A Bridge Between Italy and Japan
Nine years have passed since the tragic train accident on July 12, 2016, along the Andria-Corato railway line, in which Francesco Ludovico Tedone lost his life along with 22 others. In his memory, the Association founded to honor Francesco has decided to take a significant step for the ninth edition of Komorebi, the commemorative and multidisciplinary event that has become a fixture in Corato: this year, the celebration of life in honor of Francesco will take place in Japan.
Komorebi 2025 will be held in November in Oita, the city where Francesco lived and studied during his exchange year with Intercultura. The aim is to fulfill his great dream: to build a bridge between Italy and Japan, to “bring a piece of Corato to Oita, and a piece of Oita to Corato,” connecting traditions, perspectives, and people.
The journey to Japan will be the culmination of a path that begins in Italy, with a series of events in Corato throughout June and July. The common thread tying all the projects together will be the theme of the “Meeting Point”, symbolizing the intersection of cultures.

Komorebi 2025: From Corato to Oita – A Path of Culture and Art
Here is a summary of the intercultural and artistic journey:

  • June 20–21 and July 4–5: art therapy workshops with educational purposes (in the olive grove, Corato);

  • July 10: open artistic creation evening with painting and clay (olive grove, Corato);

  • July 11: commemorative event blending art, sports, nature, movement workshops, and astronomical observation (olive grove, Corato);

  • November 1: creative workshop and mural creation on canvas inspired by Komorebi 2023 (Tomei High School, Oita);

  • November 3: tasting of Coratina extra virgin olive oil and traditional Apulian dishes (Horuto Hall Kitchen Stadium, Oita).

A Fundraising Campaign to Support the Project
This major initiative by the Francesco Ludovico Tedone Association needs the support of the community to be successfully realized. For this reason, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched:

Why donate?
To support the costs of organizing the summer workshops—from educational and artistic materials to fees for professionals; for setting up the event space in the olive grove; for designing the astronomical observation and activities for children; for materials to create the mural and workshops in Oita; and for the culinary tastings. It will also support contributions to artists, translators, videographers, and communication coordinators—essential to allow everyone, even from afar, to take part in what’s happening in Japan.

This will be a special year for Komorebi, which, for the first time, crosses the ocean to follow in Francesco’s footsteps and fulfill his dreams—while encouraging everyone to cultivate their own passions. A small gesture can contribute to a great project that speaks of memory, loss, and sorrow—but also of future, rebirth, and beauty.
